Dave Cogdill: Rest In Peace: 1950-2017

On Sunday, July 23rd, the Central Valley lost a tremendous leader when Dave Cogdill passed away after a brave battle with pancreatic Cancer.

Dave was first elected to the Assembly in 2000, and was elected to the Senate in 2006. It was then that I was elected to replace him in the Assembly. He and his wonderful staff were incredibly generous with their time and support as I worked to fill his very large shoes.

Senator Cogdill was a genuine statesman, a true gentleman who led with his heart and represented the Central Valley with dedication and dignity. He was an incredibly kind man who treated everyone with respect.

Dave never backed down from a challenge, spending many, many years working to get a much needed water bond passed. And no matter how long it took, no matter how many setbacks, he never gave up. I am so lucky to have been able to work with him on that issue and others important to the Central Valley. I will always cherish those memories of working with my dear friend and colleague.

My staff (some of whom are former Senator Cogdill staffers) and I miss him greatly, and we are so grateful to have known him and worked with him. Our condolences go to his family, friends, and all who loved him.

Follow Me!

We are starting to use Twitter and Facebook more and more to communicate with all of our constituents. It’s cheaper and more efficient than many of the traditional methods of communication, like mailings and earned media (ie: newspapers, radio and T.V.). Plus, as my teenage daughter tells me, everyone is on social media now.
